Theology of the Body and What it Means to be Human is an exploration of Pope St. John Paul II’s Theology of the Body which is at the core of what it means to be human.  In our over-sexualized culture, we have lost our way when it comes to love, sex, marriage and God’s truth.  This program will examine why God made us the way He did and what His plan is for us.  We will shine a light on our current culture and see why God’s truth is the remedy we need to find true happiness.  Join us for what can truly be a life-changing experience!

15. Finding Authentic Freedom in Chastity w/ Jason Evert

In this episode, Megan and Morgan welcome Jason Evert to the show, a renowned Catholic author and speaker on John Paul II’s Theology of the Body. He is particularly known for his ministry, the Chastity Project, which promotes the virtue of chastity as a way to find and experience fulfilling relationships. During the discussion, Jason shares compelling and enlightening reflections, including what chastity is and why it is important for our relationships, the important difference between lust and sexual attraction, and even a bit about the life of John Paul II, who modeled so well for us how to love others as Christ loves. Ultimately, Jason highlights that chastity does not lead to the repression of sexual desire, but is rather a virtue that properly orders and directs one’s desire to order to love well. Chastity gives us the freedom to affirm the inherent personal value of another through authentic love.

14. The Link Between Contraception and Technology

In this episode, Megan and Morgan approach the topic of contraception through an unconventional lens. They propose that contraception is not simply a moral problem, but rather represents a way of relating to all of reality that they claim is "technological". That is to say, that it views nature not as something to be honored but as something to control and manipulate. They claim that understanding the link between contraception and the technological mindset that is so characteristic of our modern culture is an important piece in approaching this moral issue.

13. The Time of Singleness

In this episode, Megan and Morgan address the topic of singleness. While acknowledging that the single state is not, properly speaking, a vocation in and of itself, Megan and Morgan nonetheless emphasize the beauty and potential fruitfulness of this season of life. They claim that the way we approach singleness is what determines our ability to enter our vocations in the most beautiful way possible. Ultimately, they conclude that the key to living the single state can be found in John Paul II’s notion of “original solitude” in his Theology of the Body, where Adam is both wholly fulfilled by his perfect union with God and yet still longs for “a helper fit for himself”.

12. Why Aren't People Getting Married?

In this episode, Megan and Morgan reflect on the current cultural trend away from getting married. They conclude that the temptation to perpetual singleness, while often thought to be a favoring of freedom over being "tied down", is really so often fueled by fears and relational wounds. With the help of the Theology of the Body, Megan and Morgan discuss how we can work through the fear of commitment towards an affirmation of the incredible beauty and dignity of the married vocation.

11. Love And Do What You Want

In this episode, Megan and Morgan touch on another topic that they claim is foundational to understanding the Theology of the Body: the nature of morality. Clarifying that the moral life cannot be reduced to a moralism or "perfectionism" that ends up making us close in on ourselves, Megan and Morgan give insight from their own journeys on the need to discover morality as something rooted in one's relationship to and dependence on God. This realization frees us from viewing morality as simply following rules for the sake of making ourselves "good". Rather, in this understanding of morality, we begin to learn how to truly love.

10. Why Be Vulnerable?

In the fourth episode of the second season of Naked Without Shame, Megan and Morgan explore a topic that has been and continues to be very important for both of their journeys in learning to live the Theology of the Body. In this episode, they discuss the difficult subject of vulnerability, using John Paul II's teachings and their own experiences to unpack why it is so difficult for us and yet, as they ultimately conclude, so necessary in learning how to love authentically.

9. Seeing Yourself as a Gift

Kicking off their first time together in the studio, Megan and Morgan tackle what they consider to be one of the most foundational aspects of TOB: healing our relationship with our bodies. They do this by discussing the rampant issue in our culture of negative or distorted body image by sharing their experiences and pointing out some of the reasons why they think these issues might be so widespread. Ultimately, Megan and Morgan conclude that the Theology of the Body helps us see that before shame clouded our vision, our more “original experience” is that of being created by God as a gift, where the body is a pure communication of His love. As they have seen in their own lives, to slowly learn and live this reality is the way forward to a truer way of seeing our bodies.
