""Healing is an essential dimension of the apostolic mission and of Christian faith in general. Eugen Biser even goes so far as to call Christianity a “therapeutic religion”—a religion of healing (Einweisung). When understood at a sufficiently deep level, this expresses the entire content of 'redemption.'" Pope Benedict XVI. Jesus of Nazareth. From the baptism in the Jordan to the Transfiguration. Doubleday, 2007. 175 - 176

Allopathic/Standard Medicine

  1. Disease centric model - assign a title to a pattern of symptoms

  2. Occam’s Razor - "Entities should not be multiplied without necessity." The simple solution is best

  3. Intervene surgically or chemically to replace or fix a part or to treat symptoms

Osteopathic/Functional Medicine

  1. Treats the whole person: body, mind, and soul

  2. The person is a complex interconnected system

  3. One disease may have multiple causes, or numerous diseases may have one cause.

"When we are stuck. When we are approaching something that we can't get over, I would propose to you that [taking] the functional approach makes sense."

"in order to be instruments of healing for others as well as find our own healing, we need to see the whole picture of our humanity in light of God's divinity." Dr. Bob Schuchts. Be Healed: A Guide to Encountering the Powerful Love of Jesus in Your Life. Ave Maria Press, 2014. 78

"Once you are healed of something, you can heal others of it too."
