The Unaffirmed Recovery Plan - See pages 163 - 171 of “Feeling & Healing Your Emotions”

  1. Reduce the activities of the “mind” to make space for the development of the “heart”

  2. Start by attempting to open to natural things: minerals, plants, and animals

  3. Avoid unnecessary distractions/mental stimulation: TV, Radio, phone, news, magazines (infotainment), and attempt to deal with day to day difficulties quickly.

  4. Make more time for quiet and silence.  Avoid overscheduling: limit appointments, set boundaries.

  5. Create regular opportunities for emotional nourishment (healthy stimulation of passions): spend time in nature, enjoy hobbies, engage in the arts (symphony, art museum, plays, etc.), engage in leisurely study of philosophy and the classics, prayer, meditation, and scripture reading - ENGAGE WITH ALL THAT IS TRUE, GOOD, and BEAUTIFUL

  6. Try to become aware of emotions, take time to pause quiet yourself and recognize feelings, be honest about what you are feeling

  7. Gradually ease into bringing your heart into your relationships

AFFIRMATION IS NOT A TECHNIQUE - Affirmed living is something that develops naturally when obstacles are taken out of the way and proper nourishment is provided
